BUTEX offers two different types of membership:
FULL MEMBERSHIP
BUTEX currently has a membership of over seventy higher education institutions in the United Kingdom, most of which have a variety of individual exchange arrangements with North American universities and colleges. Full membership of BUTEX is open to any university, college or institution situated within the UK which is accredited as providing recognised UK degree courses.
Membership Fees
The annual subscription for Full BUTEX members is £450.

A major advantage of becoming a member is the opportunity for regular exchange of information among members on a variety of current educational issues.
We hold our Ordinary General Meeting in June / July and have our Annual General Meeting in December. These meetings provide the membership with the perfect opportunity to meet with other professionals in the field and a speaker is invited to each meeting to address the membership on a topic of particular current interest. Previous topics have included:

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
The success of BUTEX relies on our relationship with colleagues at institutions in North America and the UK engaged in activities similar to those of BUTEX and in recognition of this BUTEX has extended membership to include 'Associate Membership'.
The 3 main categories of Associate Membership are:
Category A: A degree-awarding institution in North America engaged in student mobility programmes with BUTEX member institutions.
Category B: A non-degree awarding 'non-profit' organisation engaged in promoting Study Abroad and or Exchange opportunities.
Category C: A non-degree awarding 'non-profit' organisation whose activities support student mobility programmes between North America and BUTEX member institutions.
Category D: A non degree awarding organisation whose activities support student mobility programmes between North America and BUTEX member institutions
Organisations who do not fit into any of the above categories, are welcome to submit an application which will then be considered by the Executive Committee.
Associate Membership Fees
The annual subscription for Associate Members is ₤225.

- Invitations to attend our regular information sessions and workshops
- Free hyperlink from the BUTEX web site to your web site
STATEMENT OF ETHICS
All members are required to respect the views of others, and are expected to conduct their affairs as they relate to the Association in a manner that will not bring the Association into disrepute. Membership does not in itself constitute the endorsement of any service or product.
