Profile: I am the Head of Global Mobility at the University of Sussex, and have been working in international and higher education for 21 years in British and Australian universities. Primarily, I’ve spent most of my career so far managing study abroad and international student recruitment teams, though I’ve also been involved in student services and advising, transnational education and residential housing. My interest in study abroad started when I studied abroad myself during my university degree, undertaking an immersive Arabic language semester in Kuwait City.

Profile: I am the International Mobility Manager at the Nottingham Trent University and have been working in International Education field for the past nine years. In my role I lead on management and development of student mobility programmes at NTU. I am a co-chair of Study Abroad Forum, I manage a large scale Global Opportunities Showcase and also oversee the University’s relationship with the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP). I am passionate about the internationalisation, intercultural communication and I enjoy working with international students.

Profile: An Erasmus student myself many years ago, I have always been passionate about providing students with opportunities for international experience. I am currently a Placements and International Programmes Officer at the University of Manchester and have over 20 years’ experience in higher education, working across student mobility, international student recruitment, marketing and communications and international admissions. At Manchester I oversee the promotion of international mobility opportunities to current and prospective students as well as being responsible for supporting our outbound students going to the USA and Canada.

Profile: After completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Roehampton, I went on to work in their UK recruitment team, managing large-scale on-campus events. I then moved into the Roehampton Abroad team as their Outward Mobility and Exchanges Officer. The longer I’ve spent working in International Education, the more passionate I have become about ensuring equal opportunities abroad for all students. After serving as Roehampton’s lead contact for BUTEX, attending many conferences, and witnessing the amazing work that comes from BUTEX, I’m excited to take on my role as Events Officer for the committee.

Profile: I am the founder of Pagoda Projects, who organise global experiences for 50+ university partners around the world. I completed a one-year placement in Germany during my studies at the University of Liverpool and lived in China for 4 years before 'retiring' to Manchester. I’m impact-focused and passionate about making global opportunities accessible to any student, irrespective of their background. Pagoda was acquired in 2023 and since then I also head up work-integrated learning partnerships for Gradcore whilst continuing Pagoda’s work in student mobility. I’m passionate about work-based learning, travel, cultural exchange and foreign languages.

Profile: As Study Abroad Manager at the University of Hull, I oversee the development, support, and promotion of student mobility programmes for both inbound and outbound students, including study abroad, placements, summer opportunities and volunteering projects. I have worked in international HE for around 9 years, including roles in international student recruitment and TNE. I am looking forward to working collaboratively to support BUTEX, and hopefully welcoming many of you to Hull for the Annual Conference in 2025.

Profile: I have worked in the field of international education for around 25 years, initially beginning my career at the University of Abertay where I worked for 2 years as International Recruitment Officer. I joined the University of Glasgow in 1998 to work as the incoming study abroad officer and following some years in that post, progressed to managing the inbound and outbound exchange programme. I moved into my current role as Study Abroad Partnerships Manager in 2019 focussing on development, recruitment, agreements and partnership liaison.

Profile: I have lived, worked and/or studied in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Australia and joined the University of Manchester in July 2023 where I manage outbound study exchanges, work placements nationally and internationally, fieldwork and group activities across all schools at the University. My particular focus is on students within the School of Arts, Languages & Cultures and students studying languages as part of their programme and as a wannabe linguist, this fits very well into my personal profile. Prior to my current role, I worked at the universities of Salford, Durham, Newcastle, Kent and Sheffield in both the UK and in Belgium covering recruitment, student support, and, in recent years, international mobility. I am extremely passionate about internationalisation and global citizenship and raising the profile of international education for all students and staff.

Profile: After completing my Undergraduate degree at the University of Southampton, I have been working there for nearly 8 years now. After completing a graduate placement in the Student Welcome team, I started work in the International Office. Initially working within the International Partnerships Team (for just over a year), I then moved to join the Study Abroad and Exchange Team where I have been for the last 7 years. Beginning as the coordinator for outbound activity, I am now the Head of Global Mobility responsible for a team of 5 who oversee study abroad, student exchange, summer school and short term opportunities for students at Southampton.

Profile: I am the Senior Regional Manager (Europe) for James Cook University in Australia and have been working in International Education since 1999 when I stumbled across a temp job in the International Office at Griffith University, Australia. In 2008 I returned to the UK and worked at the University of Southampton for 10 years, and then held a variety of positions with the University of Tasmania, Global Study Partners; an Australian based agent and the University for the Creative Arts all working within student exchange, recruitment and partnership development. I have previously spent a few years on the HEURO committee and thoroughly enjoyed the collaborative nature of that type of sector led organisation and am very excited now to be part of the BUTEX family and the opportunity to share with and learn from my peers.

Profile: Inspired by my own year abroad in Canada, I have held several roles within study abroad and exchange teams. Having spent several years at University of East Anglia (UEA), I joined SOAS University of London in 2021 as the Study Abroad Officer. Recently I have been appointed SOAS' Head of Study Abroad and Short Courses, with a focus on developing and expanding our study abroad offerings.

Profile: I am the Global Mobility and Engagement Manager at Oxford Brookes University. Before moving to this post in 2022, I worked at the Ministry of National Education in Turkey for 7 years, having held the role of General Coordinator for the UK in the Government Study Abroad Programme. In addition to managing the UK portfolio, I was responsible for policy-making, planning, and change management as part of the Government Study Abroad Programme that sponsors 4,000 students annually in over 50 countries. As a Committee Member at BUTEX, I hope to contribute to its mission to shape the future of international education.

Profile: As the Partnerships Officer at the University of Leeds, I oversee our portfolio of study abroad and exchange agreements, as well as managing relationships with our wonderful worldwide partners. I first joined the world of Study Abroad in early 2023, and prior to this my background was in property, with a degree in Real Estate, and 8+ years spent working in student accommodation, managing a variety of residences across the North of England.

Profile: I have been working in international higher education for more than 20 years at Sheffield Hallam University. I’m a languages graduate and was lucky enough to work in France as part of my degree which has inspired a love for student exchanges. I have been in my current role as Global Partnerships Manager since 2019 where I lead the delivery of Sheffield Hallam’s student mobility processes including oversight of our Turing funding and management of our global partner network.

Profile: After graduating from university, I spent over 10 years managing international programs and supporting volunteers and students undertaking placements in multiple countries spanning Africa, Asia, the Americas, Oceania and Europe. Upon moving to Australia, I managed the International Leadership Development program at the University of Technology Sydney sending 400 students a year on international placements to gain a global leadership experience. I am excited to use my experience to support BUTEX in their endeavours to promote learning abroad.
