Travel and sustainability are two things that can go hand in hand. Indeed, it consists of discovering different parts of the world in an ecological, economical and equitable sociable way. This is manifested for example by reducing and avoiding waste, favoring local consumption, etc. Moreover, it is indeed something that exists since it is defined by different terms, such as “sustainable tourism” or “ecotourism”. In my opinion, travel and sustainability should be put forward more, because it allows us to discover new cultures and horizons while ensuring an environmental, social and economic balance. It is therefore an intellectual enrichment that produces benefits for the future!
Regarding the measures that I would take to promote eco-friendly travel, they are mostly in transportation. Indeed, I will take a direct flight to Manchester to reduce my fuel consumption instead of flights with a layover. Then, to get around the city, I would opt for the bus to get to the university and do my grocery shopping instead of using the car. For the cities I want to visit in the surrounding area, I will go there by train since it produces less CO2 than the plane. To discover the city of Manchester, I would opt for walking rather than the car. This measure is not only more ecological but also beneficial to my health. I would therefore ensure that my travel contributes as little as possible to pollution.
To conclude, traveling is one of my greatest passions in life. I consider it an opportunity to grow intellectually by learning more about other cultures and life habits that are different from our personal daily lives. This passion is justified by the fact that I’ve had the chance to travel to more than 11 countries and several cities. The granting of this scholarship would allow me to support much more than a simple trip, but rather an enriching experience allowing me to immerse myself in the Anglo-Saxon legal culture which greatly influences all the provinces of Canada, the country in which I am currently.
