Eco Friendly Travel Plan (London-Vienna)

To reduce my carbon footprint, I plan to travel from London to Vienna by train instead of flying. While this requires more time, I believe it’s a worthwhile choice to reduce emissions and promote more conscious travel. Once in Vienna, I intend to make full use of the city’s excellent public transportation system and cycling infrastructure, helping reduce reliance on high-emission transport and contributing to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Sustainable living will also be a key part of my time abroad. I will minimize single-use plastics, conserve energy and water, and shop locally to support Vienna’s circular economy. These habits align closely with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). I also aim to stay in environmentally responsible accommodation—prioritizing energy-efficient housing and recycling programs—and make environmentally conscious food choices, such as eating less meat and avoiding food waste.

A unique aspect of studying at WU Wien is its strong emphasis on sustainability within business education. I intend to take courses and participate in seminars that focus on environmental management, corporate responsibility, and green innovation. These experiences will help me explore how sustainable practices can be embedded into business strategy—skills I plan to bring back to my studies and future career.

In preparation for my exchange, I am also leveraging digital tools to plan and manage my travel in an environmentally conscious way. By using apps to compare the environmental impact of different transport modes, find sustainable accommodation, and locate zero-waste shops or plant-based restaurants in Vienna, I can make informed, eco-friendly decisions even before I arrive
