Tide Goes Out with H20 - Bristol's #1 Radio Show!

Ocean: Good morning, Bristol! This is your host Ocean,
Hali: I’m her co-host, Hali
Hudson: And I’m their co-co-host, Hudson
All: And we are, H2O-
Hudson: A radio show all about the environment!
Hali: Let’s crack on, shall we? Let’s start with “Roots on the Ground”, our advice segment where we get letters from our lovely listeners.
Ocean: Today’s letter is from Aidan in Georgia!

Dear H2O Team,
I hope you are doing well! This coming Fall, I’ll be spending a semester in Bristol. While I’m there, I want to think about my environmental impact. I thought this would be pretty easy, but I’m already freaking out because my round trip to the UK is going to have a HUGE impact, around 2.4 metric tons of CO2 [1]! It almost feels like I’m ten steps behind before I’ve even started. What can I do?
Sincerely,
A Stressed Listener
Aidan

Hudson: Woah, that’s a tricky one innit?
Hali: But an understandable one! I think I speak for everyone on the H2O team when I say we’re always thinking about our environmental impact.
Ocean: Absolutely, Hali. Just last week I was feeling guilty about throwing out some leftovers I made, so I started meal planning before I went shopping.
Hudson: That reminds me! My brother has this app called Paprika that can help you meal prep [2].
Ocean: Oh really? I’ll have to check that out!
Hali: And speaking of groceries, Aidan will have to get to the store somehow-
Hudson: OOh, Aidan, you should stop by my favorite grocery store in Bristol – Radford Mill! It’s a sustainable farming based shop [3]. I get a box of goodies delivered to me every week!
Hali: Oi! I was just talking!
Hudson: Oh, my fault Hali.
Hali: No worries. As I was saying, Aidan’s got to get to the store. I’ve been trying to use my car less, and I want to be more active, so I started riding a bike!
Hudson: Woahhh look at Hali, moving like greased lightning!
Hali: Oh stop it’s no big deal. I’ve been using this app called nextbike to take rides around the city [4]. Using a bike will also help offset the emissions from your flight.
Hudson: I think the most important thing to remember though is to be patient with yourself.
Ocean: Exactly. Even with the flight, it’s awesome that you’re aware of your environmental impact-
Hudson: But you can’t stress yourself out about it!
Ocean: All you can do is your best everyday, making improvements where you can. I check this blog called Treehugger every week to give me new inspiration [5].
Hali: As long as you’re conscious of what you can do, you’re staying two steps ahead.
Ocean: What a great note to end this segment on. We’ll be right after a brief message from our sponsors!
All: The tide goes out, but we’ll see you back on shore!
