As a Computing Science student at the Bath Spa University, my internship in South Korea and Japan is much more than just travelling abroad, It is an opportunity for me to experience new cultures , develop professionally, and better understand how technology and sustainability can work together in everyday life.
To me, sustainable travel means being responsible for the impact we have on the environment and communities we visit. During my placement with CRCC Asia, I want to make thoughtful choices that reduce waste and help me travel more responsibly. I plan to use public transport as much as possible , especially because both South Korea and Japan are known for their efficient train and transport systems. I will also reduce paper waste by using digital tickets, online documents and electronic notes throughout my journey.
As someone interested in technology, I am excited to see how countries like Japan and South Korea use innovation to improve sustainability in areas such as transport, smart cities, and everyday life. I hope this experience will help me understand how technology contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future, which is something I would like to apply in my future career.
I also believe sustainable travel is about respecting people and cultures. While abroad, I want to support local businesses, respect local customs, and learn from the communities around me. Experiencing different ways of living will help me become more open-minded and globally aware.
This opportunity will allow me to grow both personally and professionally while showing that international travel can still be meaningful, responsible, and sustainable.
