Exploring the world and preserving it

Environmental protection and ecology are a priority in my life. They hold a special place and guide my daily choices.

Moreover, travelling is one of my passions. I believe it is a unique opportunity to travel around the world, discover new things, and experience different cultures. However, it is essential to travel responsibly and limit our impact on the environment.
For me, it is not enough to rely only on major political decisions for change and for protecting our planet. Every daily action also matters. Each person, each student, must adapt their lifestyle and habits.
Thus, during my Erasmus exchange, I will continue the eco-friendly habits I have integrated into my daily life, but I will also develop new ones to make this experience as sustainable and responsible as possible, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In the first place, I will continue to adopt the eco-friendly habits that I already follow in France.
On one hand, I will maintain responsible consumption. Similarly as i already do in France, I will buy as many products as possible in bulk to reduce packaging, and if I need to buy clothes, I will choose second-hand items, for example from thrift stores. The same applies to books, which I will buy second-hand whenever possible. The most important thing is to avoid unnecessary purchases, and I believe it is essential to prioritise reusable items over disposable ones.
On the other hand, I will preserve natural resources, especially water. As I do in France, I will be mindful of the time I spend in the shower. I will take short showers, avoid letting water run unnecessarily, and only use the washing machine when it is full. It is important to protect our usage of water, as it is a precious resource, and not waste it.
Finally, I will recycle properly, as I do in France. Sorting waste is essential. I will take the time to learn the recycling rules of scotland and follow the local guidelines.

Secondly, I will also make sure my trip is even more sustainable.
To do so, I will use low-polluting transportation as much as possible. Whenever possible, I will walk to get from one place to another, use a bicycle, or, if necessary, public transportation. Reducing the use of transport helps fight climate change.
In addition, I will minimize energy consumption (turning off lights, unplugging devices) and reduce waste during my stay (using a reusable water bottle, a tote bag, limiting paper printing, buying local products, and being mindful of waste).
To conclude, it is essential for me to travel in a respectful and responsible way, while developing new eco-friendly practices aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
