365 days. That is how long it takes for our world to orbit the burning star. We live in a complex and endless galaxy of the unknown, yet all we focus on is ourselves. The intricacy of our existence is the least of our concerns. Our minds are consumed with the latest trends and coolest clothes. We concentrate on what we want, not on what is best for our world and our society. Even when surrounded by love and friendships, we must remember that these beautiful connections stem from the ground we walk on and the air we breathe. Our world is perishing around us, what once flourished now withers. The urgency is so severe that this transpires within days. Our footprints burn the soil we stand on, the ground withering beneath us. Our collective heartbeat slows and pours with the rubbish of our world. Every piece of debris punctured our skin. We bleed the sorrows of our land. Our hands grip onto any remaining hope, but grasping for the very things that destroy our home, our community, our land.
Travel. We dream of adventure, exploring parts of our world we never imagined possible. My adventure begins in August, but what am I sacrificing for this journey? Every decision and action I make has the ability to create a long-lasting impact on the world as we know it. We must think of our luscious green earth as we make these potentially devastating decisions. Something as simple as buying new clothes for our trip can be extremely impactful. So, as a society and as travellers and lovers of our world, we must ensure that we purchase our products ethically and when something comes in, something goes out. As I begin my journey, I have kept my eyes open to the impacts of the decisions that I make. A great way to counteract an act that seems as simple as buying new and practical clothes could be as simple as selling old ones. We share our clothes and the love for our earth to help it to continue to grow and change our lives.
365 days. That is how long it takes for the burning star to watch us die. We must realise that our love for travel and lust for adventure come from the purity of nature. So why are we the ones destroying it? Nature is the beating heart of our world, and we are its caregivers. We must ensure to take this job very seriously, as what we give to the earth, it gives back to us. I, for one, wish to continue to explore our magical home, so I will continue to protect it.
